Original Posting:

] Is it really true that SunOS 4.1.4's "date" command can't set
] the date beyond 12/31/99? If I try to set the date to 1/1/2000,
] I get 1/1/1969. If I try to set the date to 1/1/2025, I get
] 1/1/1925.
]
] GNU date appears to work. Is there some magic to the stock BSD
] or SVID date to get it to work?

No real answer. One cheeky answer "Upgrade to Solaris 2.5".
We're just going to distribute GNU date.
