PROBLEM:
We recently installed wabi v2.1 on a Sparc5 running Solaris2.4. The wabi
install was successful. While installing windows for workgroups 3.11, the
win_inst procedure aborted with undocumented unrecoverable error:
Internal Error: Native Exception 11,1 Adr=0 EIP=21CDE0
Problem reported to Sun but no help yet. Any help would be appreciated.
For those who have installed wabi, would you consider it to be fairly
stable and reliable, or would it be wise to wait for later releases?
SUMMARY:
Nobody had seen this particular problem. It was reported to Sun Support but
they had not seen it either; they suggested installing some patches which we
have not had time to try yet.
There is confusion whether windows for workgroups 3.11 is supported - according
to Sun it is.
There is a wide variety of opinions concerning the reliability and
stability of wabi at this time.
Thanks to all who replied. For anybody who wants more detail, the replies
are appended...

Subject: Re: WABI v2.1 problem installing windows
I too have had many problems with Wabi 2.1. I do not consider it
ready for production and do consider it an alpha release until Sun gets its
act together.

I believe it is stated in the docs somewhere that Windows for
Workgroups 3.11 would not install under wabi. You have to use Windows
3.1. This was a pain for me because the only installation media I own
is Workgroups. I had to borrow 3.1.

It is my understanding that WABI does not support WFWG. You must use
regular Windows. I use 2.1 here with Windows 3.1 and it works fine.

When I installed wabi (I'm not sure which version) it specifically said
do not install Workgroups for Windows. Only Windows 3.1 is supported.
I hunted down a copy of Windows 3.1 and it works fine. Check the documentation.

Isn't there a note that WfWG doesn't work w/ Wabi?

We just installed it under Solaris2.5 (upgrade from 2.4 to 2.5 went
w/o a hitch). We installed WFWG as well. The first time we gto some
error message about generic printer drive could not beinstalled, so we
just reinstalled. All went well. We are testing it on a SS2 and I'm
impressed. We have been using Quattro Pro and it has been working
great. Please note we have only been using it for two days....
I can't wait to get it on a SS20.

don't know about that, my install of WfWG went w/o a hitch

it's stable and useable for the supported apps (Word & Excel are the
only 2 I use), I've tried other unsupported stuff and I got about
a 50% chance of success.
