Thanks to Claus, he is right in the forward bellow (though in the README
to the patch they don't mention it) - %y is now %l, as can be seen from
the sample configs supplied with the patch.. So change the two occurencies
of %y to %l in /etc/sendmai.cf and all works fine.

Did you read the README that came with the patch? I'm not 100% sure, but there changed something with one of those patches: the meaning of %y is now _all_ hosts, not just local hosts...
A comment in my /etc/sendmail.cf: # don't use %y: since we are running DNS via NIS, it matches # _all_ hosts, which are listed in the DNS (-> making them LOCAL !)
