SUMMARY: external disk not recognized

After taking some suggetions, I checked the kernel
configuration. I realized what was wrong when I saw
that tape st0 is dedicated to target 4. Sure enough,
the offending disk was set to target 4. The disk was
set to another target. All is fine.
