Original Problem:
I am having a problem with volume mgt on an sparc 20 running sol 2.4.
After checking the web site
and doing a gopher search using both cdrom and vold, I couldn't find an
answer. HELP!!!!
arch: SunOS dsmspfs1 5.4 Generic_101945-32 sun4m sparc
When trying to get volume mgt running, I am getting the following:
dsmspfs1 root >> /usr/sbin/vold
Wed Oct 4 18:16:42 1995 fatal: vol_init failed
running vold with -v opt get's the following:
dsmspfs1 root >> /usr/sbin/vold -v
Wed Oct 4 18:06:20 1995 warning: vol_init: open failed on /dev/volctl;
No such device or address
Wed Oct 4 18:06:20 1995 fatal: vol_init failed
no core or anything, just dosent work.
What I want to do is reinstall volume mgt from the dist. os cd. , but
when trying to mount the cd
I am getting the following:
dsmspfs1 root >> mount -r -F hsfs /dev/sr0 /cdrom
hsfs mount: /dev/sr0 is not an hsfs file system.
a ls -l on /dev/sr0 reveals:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Sep 17 15:39 sr0 -> dsk/c0t6d0s2
(which is the address of my cdrom). I'm lost. I have tried to reboot
several times to no avail.
plz help... will summarize..
