I had two core questions: how does one change ownership of a directory
(or file) while booted under miniroot (off the SunOS 4.1.3 CD); and
how does one automatically execute something on normal single user
mode boot. The answers, which I have not tried due to a sudden change
in direction by my customer, are:
1. How to change ownership booted under miniroot: either put
/etc/chown on media and copy into miniroot, mount up a disk already
containing miniroot, or write a short program to do the work. The one
issue was that you need to make sure any dynamic libraries needed are
present.
2. How to autoexec on single user boot: I got a couple of suggestions:
a. append what I want to /etc/rc.local and take it out when it runs.
b. put it in /.profile, which automatically executes in this case.
I appreciate everyone's help with these and prior questions
surrounding installing and configuring SunOS 4.1.3. While I may no
longer need to do this right now, I am sure there will be more changes
of direction which will once again make this information necessary.
