SUMMARY: SS1000 help needed

I've received several different suggestions how to go
about solving my problem (original inquiry below). It
wasn't until Michael E. Tonn suggested checking the
backplane for bent pins. This bothers me because it
should've been one of the first things I checked.
Anyway, That was the problem. The new backplane is
installed and the 1000's running like a champ.
