Problem solved...
Thanks to ALL who answered with the fix

Silly me I read the manual and believed it.

There is a bug in the manual.
ypserv -d is for debugging not for DNS.

I killed ypserv -d; restarted ypserv; and changed the entry in rc.local.

Thanks again for the quick and accurate fix.

Hello gurus,
On the servers' console window I am getting *LOTS* if informational
type output I did not ask for. I will spare the bandwidth and not include
the actual text.

This informational text is very similar to the nslookup debug option output.
Everytime the mailhost machine hits the net 20-30 lines of connect garbage
streams across the servers' console window.
                    ^^^^^^^
Both machines, server (SS10) and mailhost (SS2) are at 4.1.4

I have run ps to look for background nslookup running (on both machines), nothing.

I have checked and rechecked nslookup, set ALL, (on both machines)and it reports
nodebug.

PSI handles my DNS over a ppp dialup on the mailhost (SS2)
Can anyone help with this annoyance?
