SUMMARY Problems with router and DNS

The problem was solved.

Two things were causing the problem:

First, there was a mismatch between the IP address that my subnet was using
for the nameserver which is also a router for the different subnets of
the company and the IP address of the gateway for my subnet in the dns
hosts configuration file.

Second and most important the router tables needed to be updated.
