Well I got a few responses back, and some "me too's" as well.
What I gathered from the responses is that I should persue MajorDomo and
ListProcessor.
Majordomo is available, according to the O'Reilly sendmail book at
ftp.GreatCircle.com in the file /pub/majordomo.tar.Z. ListProcessor is available
at cs.bu.edu in the directory /pub/listserv.
Thanks !!
