SUMMARY: what comes after telnetd stops running

Originally I had asked what process runs to put up the motd, the last
time you logged in etc. once telnetd stopped running.

Well I must have been out to lunch or something, 'cuz it never even
occured to me to do a man login ( the obvious thing to do ).
 
Anyway the answer to the question is: login. A man for login, explains
all.
