Suggestions included:
---------------------
   1) enlarging file system size since unix does not
      allow a file larger than one filesystem,so although you have many space,
      but the file system is not as large as required.
   2) ULIMIT is to BOURNE as LIMIT is to CSHELL and that filesize
      was the correct paramter to set to 'unlimited'.
   3) thought if I had a 4X1GB Seagate I could never exceed 1GB,
      so go to Warp 2 ;-)
   4) RTFM again! - man ulimit; man getrlimit

    I don't think the 4GB disk I have conists of four 1GB platters, but I'll
    check into it.
