The original question:
Any one know how many partitions a sparc disk array can be
        split into?

Answer:
Each disk in the SSA is available as a disk; the driver makes it look
like you have one controller with multiple targets where each target
has multiple luns. You can use Online Disk Suite (OLDS) to stripe
and/or mirror and make meta disks.

The Array also comes with the Veritac volume manager with will allow
you to do RAID 0, 1, 0+1 (for stripping, mirroring, and
stipe-mirroring). You can also concatenate drives into one big
partition.
