SUMMARY: rpc.mountd core dumps

I asked about an rpc.mountd that core dumped any time I tried to access
it. I got a few of good suggestions, but none directly addressed
my problem. Finally I got through to

        <a href="http://aurora.latech.edu/sunman.html">
        Sun Managers Summaries Archives</a>

and found the answer. Then off to

        <a href="ftp://sunsolve1.sun.com/">
        Sun patches</a>

I found what I needed. From 100296.readme:

        Patch-ID# 100296-04
        Keywords: nfs rpc mount exportfs security
        Synopsis: SunOS 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.1.3: netgroup exports to world
        Date: 6/18/92

        Bugid: 1047410
        rpc.mountd dies when yp_get_default_domain returns null.

A month or two earlier I had found that the /etc/defaultdomain file
contained "ucsf.edu". This being an obvious error, since we don't
use NIS on the suns, I got rid of that. The above bug in rpc.mountd
wasn't detected until now when the machine was accidentally rebooted.

With patch installed all seems to work now. Thanks for their help to
