I got about 10 replies on this. The overwhelming response was that this is a
bug with the cmdtool and no patch has been provided. The problem goes away
in Solaris 2.3. I have a machine running Sol 2.3 and the problem indeed goes
away !!

Eckhard R|ggeberg (eckhard@ts.go.dlr.de) suggested a workaround that appears to
work !! He suggested doing a "rlogin localhost" ( rlogin to yourself ). This
way the cmdtool "doesn't know about the shell running and trying to do a
completion". Thanks !!

Thanks to all who responded !!
