Sun Managers:
It turned out that we loaded v1.1 of Sun's SPC serial board driver and for
the SunOS 4.1.3_u1 you need to load the lastest version which is v1.2. So far
the system has not hung after we upgraded to the lastest rev.
There still seems to be an accounting problem with the current mblks and
dblks reported with the 'netstat -m' command. The counts keep monotonically
increasing in value:
asrcss2:/# netstat -m
298/512 mbufs in use:
1 mbufs allocated to data
8 mbufs allocated to packet headers
122 mbufs allocated to socket structures
159 mbufs allocated to protocol control blocks
3 mbufs allocated to routing table entries
2 mbufs allocated to socket names and addresses
1 mbufs allocated to zombie process information
2 mbufs allocated to interface addresses
0/28 cluster buffers in use
92 Kbytes allocated to network (40% in use)
0 requests for memory denied
0 requests for memory delayed
0 calls to protocol drain routines

If anyone can shed some light on this one it will be helpful....
ORIGINAL POST:
--------------
I have a tough one, that is at least for me: The system is a Sparc 2 running
SunOS 4.1.3_u1, It is running NIS, DNS, bootp, and also has a Sun 8 port serial
parallel controller. The system is patched with the lastest recommended patches.
The problem: Every three to five days the system hangs hard. There is no core
files produced when the system hangs. I have savecore enabled
just in case. There is a mesage on the console though before the
hang occurs:
Oct 11 21:22:28 asrcss2 vmunix:xmballoc: out of mblks
I looked in sun solve and there is a bug report for something similar:
Bug ID: 1178665 It is related to a STREAMs memory leak.
Has anyone out there seen this problem? Any suggestions for a fix or something
to try to alleviate this problem would be appreciated....
