The problem is solved.
Couldn't have done it without the help of the following people :

All these people told me :
1. restore is smart enough to figure out the blocking factor by itself;
2. if this doesn't work : combine restore with the ever-so-handy 'dd' command.
I admit to having tried this last thing myself, but I made a mistake when
specifying the blocking factor;
This eventually did the trick :
dd if=/dev/rmt/0 bs=512 | restore -ivf -
