Sorry for the late reply,
My orginal question was; We are thinking about installing the latest jumbo
kernel patch 101318-54 on our sparc station 1000's. We are currently running
on patch level 101318-39. I wanted to know if anyone out there had already
installed 101318-54 and if so are you having any problems with it.
The responses were overwhelmingly positive. There were however some other
considerations such as;
- be aware of patch interactions i.e. at level 43 they unbundled
sendmail from 101318 into a separate 101739 which should be installed
also.
- If you have 202869 installed you need to remove it before installing
101318-54.
- 101789-02 should be installed in conjunction with 54 jumbo.
There were 3 not so positive responses which were;
- 54 is definitely better than 50 but problems with wtmp and utmp are
not totally solved yet, upbind still has problems also.
- Backed out of 54 because it does not properly log all user loging and
and logouts. Per Sun, we need to have 101533-03 & 101615-02
installed of which we have but not up to rev.
- Running 54 on ss1000 with no real problems, but its handling of stray
entries in the utmp/wtmp files still isn't perfect.
Other than that, all other responses were positive. Thanks to all who replied.
There were too many to mention, but I appreciate all responses.
