Most of the answers that I recieved indicated that umask does not control the
execute bit on files, which certainly seems to be correct. One person
suggested I use the umask of 113, but that yielded -rw-rw-r-- for files and
drw-rw-r-- for directories. I'm sticking with a umask of 002, which yields
-rw-rw-r-- for files and drwxrwxr-x for directories.

I have two users who have asked me to make their default file permissions 775
(-rwxrwxr-x). I thought that setting the umask to 002 would do the trick, but
that yields -rw-rw-r--. What am I missing?
Thanks,
