All the responses suggested me to set the reverse name/ptr records
(i.e. there should be a record that looks like 37.200.9.192.in-addr.arpa
in ptr letters.foo.com. in your dns tables.
However I do have this set up properly but the problem still occurs.
I will hard code DNS in /etc/nsswitch.conf for now.
