Managers,

Awhile ago I asked:

Sorry for the lateness, and this is not the summary I really would like to supply, but circumstances dictate that I end my quest for a step by step performance monitoring procedure. I would like to pass on what I have so far.

Most of the responses I got were of the 'me too' type, but some did offer sugestions, too numerous to take up bandwidth.

What I have so far are suggestions on tools/info to help automate the process. I am sure there are more out there, and I wish I had the time to find and use them.

Three catagories of tools/info. Public domain programs, Commercial apps/hardware, and white papers.

 Public domain programs:

defer
traceroute
etherman
nfswatch
packetman
proctool
scsiping
scsiinfo
top
watcher
interman
getethers
etherhostprobe

Commercial apps/hardware:

SunNet Manager
Netmetrix
HP Openview
Sniffer
Lanwatch
Lanalyzer

white papers:

tmpfs_virtual_memory_filesystem.ps
sunos-perf.ps
sun_performance_tuning_guide.ps

Unfortunately, that is all I have so far. Maybe one day I will have the time to do this right.

Dave
