SETTING FILE DESCRIPTORS VALUE UNDER SOLARIS 2.3

Thanks to all who responded. Problem resolved.

PROBLEM:
We've recently installed Sybase 10 on a Sun Sparcserver 1000 running Solaris 2.3
and are having problems trying to up the 'Sybase' user connections param.

The message returned by the isql process indicates not enough File Descriptors
or FILLM process quota too low when attempting to up the number of user
connections (to 100).

We have not set the 'maxusers' value in /etc/system - in case this should have
anything to do with it. As I understood under 2.3 the value is auto set to the
amount of memory installed (in our case 256).

SUMMARY:
Thanks to you folks for responding.

The problem was resolved by issuing the 'limit descriptors nnn' command prior to
the startserver command in the Server start up script.

Note: limit descriptors nnn for csh or
ulimit Sn nnn for sh or ksh
