The solution turns out to be trivial (!) - Thanks for saying it can't
be done, Sun Support :-(

I'd tried this and always got a message that the printer wasn't properly installed.
Since he'd done it I tried again (I don't like to be beaten :-).
The trick turned out to be to change the ownership of /opt/SUNWwabi to 'me', install
the printer, and then set it back to root. (Don't know why/what it wanted to
update, but ...)
