Well, I should have gotten the hint when I saw the Solaris 2.3 supplement
CD with the machine.
The answer is: Yes, you can run Solaris 1.1 or Solaris 1.1.1, but not
Openwindows because the new SX framebuffer is not supported. Also,
the supplement disk gives you what you need to run Openwindows under
Solaris 2.3.
SunSupport confirmed this, along with:
Martin Achilli <ACHILLM@IMIHSRA.BITNET>
eckhard@ts.go.dlr.de (Eckhard Rueggeberg)
feldt@phyast.nhn.uoknor.edu (Andy Feldt)
klm@aule-tek.com (Kristen Moore)
Adam Shostack <adam@bwh.harvard.edu>
Casper Dik <casper@fwi.uva.nl>
pmartini@diva.fr (Pierre Martini)
Others were off the mark, probably because I did not make clear that
this was the SS10 with the new SX framebuffer.
In any case, thanks to all for the responses.
