        A few days ago I posted the following request to the list:

        Hello Sun-managers,

        I'm looking for an audio-tool for our Sparc 10, that uses the
        16 bit stereo capability of the Sun. The original Sun audio-tool
        generates only 8 bit mono sound. Is there a PD package out there
        to help us ????

        I received a lot of requests for summary and some ME-TOO-mail,
        but nobody was able to point me to the software I want :-(
        
        Two postings that might be interessting for others are appended
        below.

1) Ron Hall (thorn@cc.mcgill.ca) pointed me to the SOX (SOund Exchange)
        package, which converts different sound formats (thanks Ron).

        As I don't want to upgrade to Solaris 2.3, this is not the solution
        (do you hear me Sun?). Anyway, thanks Andy.
