Hi Gurus,
Original question :

The most recent is 2.5.5

Yes, but not from the most recent version :
prep.ai.mit.edu:/pub/gnu/sparc-solaris-"something" (not tested, always busy)
or all its mirrors :
ftp.uu.net:/pub/gnu/solaris 2.4.5 binaries
and others...
> - If not, how did you bootstrap the compiler ?
In any case, those binaries should allow you to bootstrap the most recent version.

It doesn't have the compiler, but it has all the other tools.

Few people tried as Solaris already has X11R5.
It seems that there are some special patches to make it work (which ones ?,
where to find them ?).

1.1.5 does.
> - Did you encounter any special problems during the built.
1.2 seems to build fine. No statement about 1.1.x.
