Thanks for the replies. Between the original request for help, and
this summary, I upgraded the ROM's on these modems to rev 7.02.
Further, for other reasons, I needed to reboot the machine with -r.
After doing so, I ran the pmadm commands shown below and have had no
troubles with this setup since.

Thanks,
sid

configuration:
Sparc 10/41
Serial splitter cable
Worldblazer modems, 5.01 ROM
Solaris 2.1

I have two Worldblazer modems connected to a Sparc 10 via the serial
port splitter cable. I have not been successful in getting both of
them in a state, at the same time, to accept incoming calls. After
removing the existing service tags, the pmadm commands I used to set up
the port mon for these modems are:

pmadm -a -p zsmon -s ttya -i root -v `ttyadm -V` -fu -m \
"`ttyadm -d /dev/term/a -s /usr/bin/login -l contty6H -b -S n -m ldterm,ttcompat`" \
-y "port a modem"

pmadm -a -p zsmon -s ttyb -i root -v `ttyadm -V` -fu -m \
"`ttyadm -d /dev/term/b -s /usr/bin/login -l contty6H -b -S n -m ldterm,ttcompat`" \
-y "port b modem"
