Thank you Chuck Foley. Chuck gave me the information for getting the drive working under 4.1.3, and I will be looking forward to getting Solaris 2.3 and seeing if it is supported then. Here is Chucks response:

------------- BEGIN INCLUDED MESSAGE ----------------

Under SunOS 4.1.3, add the following to your /usr/kvm/sys/scsi/targets/st_conf.c
file:

/* Exabyte 8mm 5GB cartridge */
{
        "Exabyte EXB-8500C 8mm Helical Scan", 16, "EXABYTE EXB8500C",
        ST_TYPE_EXB8500, 1024,
        (ST_VARIABLE | ST_BSF | ST_BSR | ST_LONG_ERASE | ST_AUTODEN_OVERRIDE),
        5000, 5000,
        { 0x14, 0x15, 0x90, 0x8C },
        { 0, 0, 0, 0 }
},

(mine is just before the definition for /* Exabyte 8mm 5GB cartridge */)

Under Solaris 2.2, there's not much you can do...Solaris 2.3 will give you
a method do do something similar to 4.1.3 above...

This is currently running on a SparcCenter 2000 (SunOS 5.2), but I have tried it on my Sparc 1+ (SunOS 4.1.3) with the same results. Does anyone have ideas on what I should do?
