The original question was:

> Are there any restrictions on swapping CPU modules around between

The responses varied. Some said that there were jumpers on the motherboard
that need to be set differently for Supercache, others said just swap the CPU.
All agreed that there were no software issues around single-processor swaps.

It turned out that the simplest thing for us to do (in terms of the number
of steps to get the right machine in the right place running the right
software in the right network) was to move the graphics controller instead
of swapping the CPU boards.

So now I have a SPARCstation with no "face" and a SPARCserver with a *nice*
monitor, and everything is working just fine.

P.S. Now that we have this issue settled, anyone care to talk about swapping
VAX 6000 series CPU modules between a 6420 and 6510/6610? Oops! Wrong list...
