----END OF INCLUDED MESSAGE-----

Thanks for all answers, they were prompt and I was moved
by the willingness of people to help. Thanks again to:

craven@cg.emr.ca, ted@ags.ga.erg.sri, jason@pest.ctpm.uq.oz.au,
lemke@MITL.Research.Panasonic.COM, penrod@whiplash.er.usgs.gov,
cpumagic!mloewen and finally habicht@imes.uni-hannover.de.

It was Detlev Habicht from Hannover who solved the problem with
this simple remark:

SOLUTION BEGIN :

'You must change "net login" in one of the *.bat-Files in
c:\nfs to "net name". Then it works.'

SOLUTION END.

So it did (It's in the network.bat-file).

Jim (craven.cg.emr.ca) suggested that the check_user-routine in the
popd-program was poorly written, and supplied me with a fix.

Ted Nolan (ted@ags.ga.erg.sri) suggested shortage of memory on
the PC.

Jason (jason@pest.ctpm.uq.oz.au) suggested to change to SelectMail
which is the mail program following Lifeline. SelectMail uses the
POP-3 protocol.

Kennedy Lemke (lemke@Research.Panasonic.COM) also mentioned the
SelectMail-program, adding, that pop-2 is known to be 'flaky', and
sugesting me to change to the SelectMail despite the hazzle of
changing.

Mike Lowen (mloewen@cpumagic.scol.pa.us) suggested missing user-
accounts as the problem.

Thanks again to all who responded.

Yours:

Morten Krabbe Barfoed
