A few weeks ago I sent out this plea:
>I am getting desperate, I have tried the newsgroups, my supplier and
>still have not a straight answer.
>I have a network of PC's running Windows For Workgroups that I need to
>hook up to our Sun network. The problem being is that they are using
>the netbeui protocol not TCP/IP. I need to change the network over to
>use TCP/IP but the process for doing this is shrouded in mystery, I
>cannot get a straight answer anywhere as to what I need to do to make
>WFW use TCP/IP? Also, has anyone used PC-NFS in conjunction with WFW?
Well only one person said that the current version WFW will not do
TCP/IP, though I have heard a recent announcement that may actually
provide the capability - this is why I have been putting off the
summary, waiting for news from our supplier but I have given up.
The good news is that Netbeui and TCP/IP will coexist happily on the
same wire and PC-NFS will work with WFW. So it looks like I will be
able to connect up the networks and install PC-NFS on some machines to
allow them to share sun disks. I am getting a copy of WFW to play
with to make sure it all works.
Thanks for all the help and offers to:

We have LAT, TCP/IP, IPX and WFW running on the same wire,
although the IPX and WFW don't talk to the TCP/IP they do not
interfere with each other.

This has been discussed in comp.sys.pc.tcp-ip. If you need the details
I can dig them up.

We're currently running pc-nfs 5.0 and W4W without any problem (as long as we
don't use Etherlink III cards)...You have to use NDIS drivers for pc-nfs and
W4W.

First, the current version of WFW does will not use TCP/IP. Period.
PC-NFS v5.0 will coexist with WFW though.
The next version of WFW (if it is released) is supposed to support
TCP/IP. This would be nice since TCP/IP is routable while NETBEUI
isn't routable.
BTW, Windows NT supports TCP/IP now. There is no NFS client available for
NT yet, however, one is supposed to be ready sometime before the end
of the year from Sun.

We had this package on evaluation and found that teh support for Netbeui
under PC-NFS was not all that the manual had it cracked up to be. The
mapping of Netbeui names to IP addresses didn't work and as a result
we had to send the package back to Sun. PC-NFS was OK but the Netbeui
aspect of teh package has not been tested out enough, it's just a shame
that you are using WfWG otherwise you would be happy.

Sun's PC-NFS v5.0 will work in conjunction with WFW. Under WFW, PC-NFS is
considered a second network. There are directions with PC-NFS on
installing it over WFW. I have 10 WFW users running PC-NFS and accesssing
my Sun network with very few problems. The only major problem I am having
is getting PC-NFS to use NIS correctly. I've contacted Sun Support and have
not gotten much of a response, but I am still hopeful.

The following appears in appendix D of the Sun PCNFS 5.0
Installation guide:
PS You should be using NDIS drivers. You will be running BOTH
protocols, but PC-NFS will interact properly with wfw.

I have! and it works great. I have some instructions on how to use PC-NFS (TCP/IP) and WFW (netbeui) at the same time, is that helpful?
If it is, just let me know and I'll send it to you.
