*MANY* thanks to Richard Elling down at Auburn University for bailing
me out of this one. Here's the scoop.
There are three (count 'em) versions of x3270. They are distributed
in tar files as follows:
x3270-1.2-cutpaste-iso8859-1.tar.Z
x3270-1.2.tar.Z
x3270v2.65beta.tar.Z
I tried first to make x3270v2.65beta.tar.Z work under Solaris but no
soap. Then I tried x3270-1.2.tar.Z but again no soap. When Richard
sent me the stuff he was using, it turned out to be the 1.2 cut'n'paste
version. I tried and, sure enough, *THAT* version *DOES* compile and
run on Solaris right out of the box. Sheesh!
My next move was to mash the pieces of the cutpaste version that make
it work under Solaris into the 2.65 version. I now have a hybrid 2.65
that will run on either Solaris or SunOS 4.1.x. If anyone is interested
in it, email me and I'll send you a uuencoded version.
