To get it to work, most managers suggested to enter this line after telnet
or rlogin to SS2 machine.
% setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/openwin/lib
I have included below the explanation from Jerry Springer. Thanks Jerry!
The problem has nothing to do with any incompatabilities.
When you telnet into the ss10 none of the necessary environment variables
relating to windows are setup. Normally they only get set when you start up
a windowing environment. If you set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to be the directory where
openwin is with a /lib appended to it , then the error will go away.
For example if openwin is in the default location, then after the setenv of the
DISPLAY
variable issue the following command:
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/openwin/lib:/usr/lib
or substitute for /usr/openwin the path to wherever you have openwin.
ld.so by default only looks in /usr/lib. For things like xview libs you need
to specify other directories with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variabke.

Dear Managers,
I have installed Answerbook on a SS10 running Openwindows 3.0 and Sun OS V.4.1.3
Now I would like to invoke Answerbook from a SS2 running openwindows V2.0 and
Sun OS V4.1.1
Below are the commands I entered
- login to SS2
- xhost +
- telnet SS10 where bookanswer is installed
- setenv DISPLAY SS2:0
- % answerbook
Verify environnment.... ld-so: libxview.so.3: not found
answerbook cannot start until these problems have been fixed.
Looks to me Openwindows V2 and V3 are not compatible. Would you please
shed some light on how to fix that problem.
