It's probably because of Bill Clinton's tax plan
                (tax everything in sight - retroactive to Jan. 1).

Or maybe Bill Gates' NT plan (lower sales ->
                                need higher profit per piece).

Or perhaps even Ross Perot
     (fighting against NAFTA, migrant processes and job flight to
        third-world networks (you know, Macs & PCs and non-Unix machines
          like Nexts)).

But my favorite scapegoat:

        Rampant looting by crazed Somali warlords.
