My original posting:

I have a real puzzler.
Sun 690 MP (4 Processors, Cypress Ross) 640 MB RAM, about 21 GB IPI.
We have had continuous memory access errors when the second memory expansion
board is in place. The board and all its symms have been replaced as
well as the system board. Before we move to other boards and backplanes I
want to clarify a question.

There now seems to be a rumor that maybe 690's have never really worked
well with the second expansion board in place.

My question....

Does anyone have a 690 system with all 640MB of Sun memory in place that is
stable?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hal Stern replied that he had a 690 that had 640 MB and 1GB Disk that was stable.
He was the only one.

The rest of the relavent responces told of many replacements of boards
and memory to get their machines to run with expansion boards. These
configurations had problems at the 512 MB point, most seems to
run ok up to 384 MB (one expansion board) but not above.

Those who solved their problems pushed sun to keep replacing till they got it.
