There are a couple papers in the IDA distribution, but that is the
extent of the information I know. O'Reilly & Associates is in the
process of writing a book on sendmail which is supposed to include
some information on IDA as well...
You can get IDA from cs.niu.edu. I don't recall the directory exactly,
but I belive it will be somewhat intuitive...

You can find the ida version of sendmail on ftp.uu.net (it's called
sendmail-ida, so if you try archie with that string you should find
it). I think it's in the /mail directory. There is some documentation
that comes with it, plus there's a lot of other sendmail documentation
available on that machine.
Some of the most useful sendmail info is in Nemeth/Snyder's "Unix System
Administration Handbook". There is supposed to be a sendmail book
coming out soon, too.

You can get the latest released version from uxc.cso.uiuc.edu.
It is pretty easy to compile, and it is a dream to administer compared to regular sendmail.
