ORIGINAL PROBLEM.....

Can someone give me the format.dat info for the followin.

CDC Wren IV 94171-376...

SCSI Interface for a Sparcstation 1

I have tried the following parameters for a
CDC Wren IV 941717-334 drive with out any success.
The drive fails to label.

ncyl=1545 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 1549 : nhead = 9 : nsect = 46 \
rpm = 3600 : bpt 20833

I'm starting to suspect a faulty drive. Any info greatly appreciated.

The following win the cupie doll..

Both of the following parameter enabled me set up the disk using the
"TYPE" command under format and selecting "OTHER"...

My problem was cuased by selecting nsect as 46 instead of 45.
Most of the documentation I searched also gave nsect the value of 46.

Both of these worked fine...

ncyl = 1545 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 1549 : nhead = 9 : nsect = 45 \
rpm = 3600 : bpt = 20833

ncyl = 1547 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 1549 : nhead = 9 : nsect = 45 \
rpm = 3600 : bpt = 20833
