As always, this list is unbeatable...
I am overwhelmed by answers, a lot of people seems to have run into the same
problem.
Original query:
> I just halted one of our SS1 and powered it down. It was moved some 10 meters,
> and when I turned it on again..... the following text was displayed:

> Booting from: sd(0,0,0)vmunix
> Bootblock: libprom.a: Romvec Version 0
> checksum -1fd20afa != -dd24672, trying to boot anyway
> Boot: libprom.a: Romvec Version 0

The answers can be divided into two categories:
1. The disk has been trashed, try to boot from tape or cd and fsck the faulty drive.
2. Turn off the power, count to ten, and then turn it on again!
Well, number 2 was easiest to perform, and it worked!
Seems like the drive suffers from the well-known 'sticky drive' problem. I've seen
this before, but never on the factory-mounted drives. (This particular SS1 was delivered with the additional drive packed separatly. Back in the good ol' days when
104Mb was *more* than enough... :-) )
Thanks to all of you who responded (and you were many!)
