Thanks to all who replied (list attached below).

The answer to my question is that OW II does _not_ support the Xaw and
Xmu libraries.

The solutions are as follows:-

        o obtain a copy of X11R5 from export.mit.edu;

        o install OW III which has Xaw and Xmu, and is equivalent
          to X11R4;

        o or patch in the missing libraries from one of the srcs listed
           above

This last solution can be a tricky one, but has been done by some of
the respondees.

I have decided to go with either acquiring X11R5 or OW III.
