The original message was:
We have an SLC running SunOS 4.1 serving a network of PC's running
PC-NFS (3.0.1 and 3.5). We have run into some locking problems with
PC applications, so I am going to install the lockd patch that came
with PC-NFS 3.5 (we are currently running the patched versions that
came with 3.0.1). This patch says:
#
# The intent is to have a new lockd installed that is consistent with
# SUN's CTE level 6 lock daemon.
#
My questions are:
Is there a later version lockd patch for 4.1?
If so is it worth installing, what does it fix?
Does it work with PC-NFS 3.0.1/3.5/4.0?
The answers:
1. Is there a later version lockd patch for 4.1?
Yes, 100075-08, covers 4.1, 4.1.1 and 4.1.2. I have acquired it,
and will install and test shortly.
2. If so is it worth installing, what does it fix?
Yes, lots of things. As Glenn Satchell put it:
> Yes, when you see the README you will think "how can there be so many
> bugs and the thing still (sortof) works?". Seriously there are many
> bugs fixed in the later revisions, so you should get the latest patch.
3. Does it work with PC-NFS 3.0.1/3.5/4.0?
Since patched versions of lockd etc come supplied with PC-NFS I was
concerned that some patches may be PC-NFS specific. However most
respondents felt that there should be no problems running later lockd
patches with any of the PC-NFS versions. It appeared that a couple of
people had installed the patch and were running PC-NFS without
difficulties.
