Howdy-
I know it is unusual to post a summary without every having received
a direct response, but I found the answer I needed in a Usenet article
posted a day (independently as far as I know) after my question. For
a really good summary of how to use a Sun as a slip server from a Mac,
I point you to the following article:
> From gilbertd@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu Sat May 30 22:42:00 1992
> Newsgroups: comp.sys.mac.comm
