I've been looking for this function for a while, including something
more secure than a setuid root script. I think I've found it, thanks
to a tip from a local cs person: a couple of C programs, including
floppy and cdrom mounting/unmounting available via anon. ftp to
    Host emx.utexas.edu
    Location: /pub/mnt/source/sun/fdmount
