I got a number of "me too" responses. Every other response I got was
unique.
George Dragner <gdragner@encore.COM> had the answer I used successfully.
I removed the decorative plastic cover from the back of the monitor and
adjusted the "Maximum Brightness" potentiometer to a useful level and
had plenty of range left.
