A few days ago I asked for help with
>vmunix: NFS write error 13

and getting showfh to tell me which file was causing the problem.
since all I could get from showfh was
>showfh: cc: RPC: Timed out.
Thanks to all who replied. I enclose representatives of all the

Sounds like you are not running the /usr/etc/rpc.showfhd
daemon (which showfhd expect to talk to) on the server (cc).

But I was. The next suggestion

But there was nothing wrong with /etc/exports and re-running exportfs
changed nothing.

The file system identification was provided by

The a07 is major block device minor 10 number 7, which means xd0g.
I believe the 1 is the inode number - which would fit in this case.

But the answer to the showfh problem was provided by
Hal Stern <stern@sunne.East.Sun.COM> as always.
there's a bug in the showfh daemon; try patch 100371-01

Problem Description:
After starting showfhd on NFS server system, NFS client system attempts
to run "showfh(8C)" command to determine the full pathname of remote file.

      % /usr/etc/showfh server_name num1 num2 ... num8

Where num1 through num8 are the hex numbers returned by "nfs write
error 70:". Results on local client:

                showfh: server_name: RPC: timed out
