The problem that was causing the error:
stty: TCGETS: Inappropriate ioctl for device
in my dump script, was that I was previously debugging the script
using the -x option, I forgot to change it back to -f i.e.
#!/bin/csh -x ===> #1/bin/csh -f
I had a stty in root's .cshrc file and caused the problem.
