Folks,
actually, the problem is still unsolved. Rodney mentioned patch 100279-01
(which is intended for SYNC Error Reg 80<INVALID> and which
I installed some time ago without any effect) and using
the GENERIC kernel (what I'm doing right now, and by now the
system didn't crash (two trials ;-)).
