My Question:

Summary:

PSR release is only an issue for SunOS 4.0.3 and SunOS 4.1. It is
introduced basically to cover the kernel/hardware differences of a new
product after a specific SunOS release has been frozen. Such as 4.0.3
PSR A for 4/390 and 4.1 PSR A for 4/4X0.

4.0.3 PSR covers kernel difference, such as supports of IPI drives
4.1 PSR covers kernel difference, such as IO caching

If you are running SunOS 4.0.3/4.1, YES, you need to run PSR release.
You don't need to worry about PSR release in SunOS 4.1.1 anymore since
all the changes in PSR has been incorporated back into the generic release.
There is only Sun4 vs Sun4c distinction.
