( I had asked if all sun patches were available somewhere. Also, about
ldd doing a core dump - Summary for both is attached).
About "ldd", it does a core dump when it tries to do an
'ldd /etc/ld.so.cache' - no fixes yet.
A pretty comprehensive collection of patches for SunOS's are available via
anonymous FTP from:
nic.funet.fi in pub/unix/sun
princeton.edu in pub/sun-fixes
A couple of people mentioned that they spoke to Sun regarding this, and
the reply they got from Sun was that "they can only have patches when
they find a problem, because some patches clash and need fine tuning
depending on the hardware and software". All I have to add to this is
that Sun better get its act together before people start weighing the
support disadvantages against the hardware advantages.
Two people mailed me a list of patches available for SunOS4.1.1 -
110 4.1.1/100159-01 SunOS 4.1, 4.1.1:system hangs using sockets
in local loopback tcp-ip
111 4.1.1/100173-01 SunOS 4.1.1: NFS Jumbo Patch
112 4.1.1/100174-01 SunOS 4.1.1: fixes for tmpfs bugs.
113 4.1.1/100179-01 SunOS 4.1.1:polling not working correctly
114 4.1.1/100185-01 -etc-rc.local can be used to destroy passwd
115 4.1.1/100188-01 SunOS 4.1.1: TIOCCONS redirection is a
security violation.
116 4.1.1/100192-01 SunOS4.1.1: colormap is not correct when
128 colors are used.
